Code of conduct and conference guidelines

Code of conduct

Participants to the PLATO - ESP2025  are encouraged to have a free discussion, and a free exchange of ideas and scientific results. All professional interactions should be conducted with consideration and respect. This includes, but is not restricted to, interactions with other attendees, exhibitors, administrative, technical or other support staff.

The PLATO - ESP2025 conference is committed to fostering a collegial, respectful, and inclusive environment that supports the free exchange of ideas and scientific results. All participants—including attendees, exhibitors, speakers, and staff—are expected to conduct professional interactions with courtesy and mutual respect. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

To help maintain a positive and professional atmosphere, we ask all participants to adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Act professionally. Harassment, discriminatory behavior, or exclusionary remarks or jokes are not acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to: disruptive behavior during sessions or events, unwelcome physical contact or sexual attention, intimidation, stalking, and the photographing or recording of individuals without their consent. Offensive comments related to age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, race, nationality, or religion are also unacceptable.

  2. Keep communication appropriate. All interactions should be suitable for a diverse, professional audience. Avoid sexual or sexist language and imagery.

  3. Respect others. Engage constructively and critique ideas, not individuals. Personal attacks or disparagement of other attendees or event facilitators are not acceptable.

  4. Support a respectful environment. If you witness bullying, harassment, or aggression, consider checking in with the affected person to offer support. You may suggest that they report the behavior, but respect their decision on whether to do so.

  5. Be mindful when sharing content. Before posting photos of speakers on social media, please obtain their permission. Feel free to share the content of talks or slides unless the speaker has specifically requested otherwise.

Two members of the Local Organising Committee will be designed soon. They will be available as confidential contacts for any concerns related to this Code of Conduct. Participants who experience or witness violations are encouraged to report them to these contacts. Those asked to stop inappropriate behavior are expected to comply immediately. In serious cases, offenders may be asked to leave the event without a refund.
